Russia eyes double goods circulation with Iran

TEHRAN, Mar. 01 (MNA) – Russian Min. of Agriculture on Mon. called for the quick resolution of issues currently existing in Iran and Russia’s private sectors, as well as the doubling of goods circulation with Tehran.

Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev heading a delegation arrived in Tehran on Monday and held talks with Mahmoud Vaezi, Iranian ICT Minister and Chairman of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission.

Noting that the two countries are in the same economic situation, Tkachev added “today we arrived at the point of implementing the agreements between the two countries. After we finished assessing the required goods, it was decided that a 'green corridor' would better facilitate our trade transactions with Iran.”

He went on to add that the ‘green corridor’ would be established based on mutual trust, saying this method would lower the costs and dispense with clearance delay, thus simplifying the export of goods.

Mahmoud Vaezi, for his part, stressed the efforts on part of the Iranian side for expanding relations with Russia, saying “establishing a common customs system and the electronic exchange of information can be a tremendous help in both countries’ exports and trade.”

“Creating a ‘green corridor’ would expedite Iran and Russia’s trade exchange,” said Vaezi.

Stressing the need for diversification of transport between the two counties via the sea, air and road, Vaezi maintained, “during the recent visit of Russian President to Iran, the two sides highlighted expansion of bilateral cooperation as one of the major topics of discussion.”

“Russia’s shares in Iran’s market will not decrease in the post-sanction period,” said Vaezi, “it is expected that with the implementation of the nuclear deal and the lift of sanctions, the volume of trade between Iran and Russia will continue to expand without any intermediaries.”

During the meeting, the Russian side expressed his country’s interest to use Iranian soil for the transit of their goods through the Persian Gulf.
